End of July?!?!

How. On. Earth. Is. It. The. End. Of. July. Already?! Where did the month go?!

I’ve been MIA because of the Summer Dance Intensive. Such a long, exhausting, exciting, and fun-filled two weeks it was! This year was much more laid back that previous years, so that was nice… we only made ONE trip to the doctor this time around (previously we’d made 3-4 per summer!). It certainly kept us busy! I was able to take a few tap and jazz classes so that was nice! 🙂 My fellow RAs and I (it was a new bunch this year) made some close connections with some of the campers… can’t wait to see them in October for the Admissions Audition! 🙂

This week was relatively “slow” until yesterday haha… I didn’t do anything yesterday, which was WONDERFUL! Today I had a meeting with my advisor about my Thesis, and tonight I’m teaching… Tomorrow I have a lunch date/appointment, then another meeting with my advisor about my Thesis and another afternoon meeting! (PHEW) Thursday, Dash has his re-check appointment for his eye… everything seems to be doing good! (Tyler was such a good Daddy while I was gone, giving Dash his drops everyday!) then I teach again Thursday night and Friday morning its off to KC! 🙂

This weekend is a jam-packed weekend in KC… I get to KC about 8:30am Friday…. I have to get my driver license renewed and then I’ll spend time with Dad and Haley, until Mom gets off work… then we’re going out to dinner for my Dad’s belated birthday dinner! Saturday, I’ve made 3 appointments for venues! I’m SO excited… I’m trying to make one more appointment, but I had to leave a message, so we’ll see if they call back! It’s worked out PERFECTLY so far… *knock on wood* I honestly didn’t think I’d be able to see all the places in one day… its about a 95 mile round trip to see all the places! 🙂 Then its back to OKC Sunday morning!

The NEXT weekend, Mom and Haley are going to swing through OKC on Thursday to pick me up and head to Dallas for Haley’s FDC Competition! So excited… I haven’t been able to see her dance all year!!!! Then we’ll be back in OKC on Saturday night and we’re going to try and see a production of A Chorus Line (a musical) at our local Lyric Theatre! (During camp we saw the companies production of Ragtime!)

Then, its just two weeks until its back to school! Crazy, crazy!

But, that’s about it in my life right now… I’ll try and do an update with pictures from camp sometime soon… we had some funny kids! 🙂

Until Next Time,
~*~Megan~*~

P.S. I’m updating on “Delly” my Dell computer! We thought she had died, but apparently she works! We struggled with the microphone while Tyler and I tried to Skype while I was gone at camp… it wouldn’t work… he could hear me though… so I fiddled around with it a little today and it works! 🙂 So yay for that! 🙂 Happy Tuesday!

Friday Wishing

Back for day 2! 🙂 And a busy day it’s been! I hadn’t really planned to be ubber productive today, but somehow that happened… not sure exactly how!

First, I wanted to share some things on my “wish list” at the moment…

First up… My birthday is right around the corner… (August 16th for the big 2-3! Yikes!)

I’ve seen 3 people with these shoes, and I’ve decided I need a pair. I don’t own a pair of toms currently, but these wedges are just too cute and versatile. I also don’t own a pair of wedges, but these are just too cute to pass up…

Aren’t they cute? Toms also has a wedding section! I don’t know how I feel about wearing them on my wedding day but I do love how each purchase of shoes gives a pair of shoes to a child in need! Such a neat idea! 🙂 (Pictures from http://www.toms.com)

Speaking of weddings… my wedding has been on my mind a LOT lately – today especially! Tyler would tell you I’ve become CONSUMED by our wedding… I beg to differ… I think it’s only natural to start thinking about it… I mean, come on… I’ve dreamed about this day my WHOLE. ENTIRE. LIFE! 🙂 Nonetheless, I have been productive in regards to our upcoming day! (By upcoming, I mean still over a year away… but, hey, a girl’s gotta plan!)

1) I made a preliminary guest list last night… with some of tyler’s help… and I sent it out to my mom, grandma and Tyler’s mom this morning for them to take a look over it and to adjust any mistakes/omissions they saw. We are needing to get this preliminary list together so that we can find a venue! 🙂 And just like I suspected… the list grows very quickly, despite trying to keep it small! 🙂

2) After making this list, I got just too excited, so I pulled out my super secret CD of wedding dress trying-ons to see *MY DRESS!* There are pictures on the salon’s website, but they simply don’t do it justice! So I drooled over that for a while… only to tuck them away safely. 🙂 (Tyler can’t see it until THE day! duh.)

3) I received some information from a potential vender. This phone call/ email made me realize that this was what I needed to spend my day doing… again… duh! 🙂

4) I booked my flight to KC at the end of the month to go venue shopping! My plan is to make an appointment with 3 locations. I have researched some, now I just need to narrow down. I’ll only be in town for the weekend, so we’ll be tight, but I don’t want to have 5 million options to pick from.. so three it’ll be!

How does this all fit in you ask? Well, I wish it was September 22nd, 2012 already! 🙂 (This is the day we’re shooting for… Mark your calendars! Ha!)

Other than that, not much “wishing” going on here…. I’ve been busy organizing, cleaning, and filing… I finally put my jewelry in its rightful place after our move 2 months ago 🙂 Tyler has a big meeting down at the Union Hall tonight so I’m just trying to stay busy before he gets back. We finished Dexter Season 3 tonight… Tyler suggested I go pick up Season 4 while he was gone… but we decided to wait until tomorrow when we run our other errands – including getting me another pair of sunglasses…. after I just replaced a pair LITERALLY two weeks ago… both pairs broke in the SAME place… ugh!

Other than that… it’s been a nice productive day! 🙂 (And a historical one at that… with the last shuttle launch and I just saw Betty Ford passed away at 93 today… crazy.)

Well, sorry for boring you with my day dreaming… Tyler asked what I was going to obsess over after our wedding… Am I really THAT bad? Is this normal? Haha! To show how “under control” my obsession is, I think I’ll go start narrowing down my venue selections until Tyler gets home! 🙂

Until Next Time,

4th of July Trip and More

Hello, Hello! I’m back again.. Not on a Wednesday… and I missed a week… whoops. Nothing too excited happened in the “off week” but last weekend we took a trip to Warsaw, MO to my Grandma’s Cabin. I hadn’t been there in YEARS (literally a decade), and Haley doesn’t think she’s ever been there… at least not that she could remember, so we decided to meet “in the middle” for the 4th of July! It was an exciting trip to say the least…
First, I didn’t realize Warsaw was closer to KC than it is to OKC.. by far. It was almost the exact same milage as heading to KC… hm. To make things “better” our “should-have-been” 6 hour trip turned into an 8-hour-hellacious event. Apparently there were two huge wrecks on the highway that required us to be detoured off our main road, through an itty-bitty town… the detour was only 3.5 miles… it actually took us 2 hours to get through and back on our path… gross. Tyler and I were NOT happy campers about this… especially since we had left 2 hours earlier to surprise my family by arriving around 10… we made it at midnight… so it was right to bed for us.. only Dash kept us up all night because of the strange environment and an air-mattress that had a hole. (Haley and Brooke slept on it Saturday night and by the time they woke up, it was COMPLETELY flat.. haha!)
Saturday we got up early and headed to town to go grocery shopping… Our mini-vacation included myself, Tyler, Dash, Haley, her friend Brooke, my mom, my grandma, and my aunt Kathy… the cabin has a fully equipped kitchen so we decided it would best to chip in money and get groceries to cook… after grocery shopping we headed to the lake. Haley, Brooke, Tyler, my Mom, and I spent 3-4 hours at the lake… we had a BLAST… I got a little sun but nothing that was too traumatic!
Saturday night we went and saw a firework show… it was pretty pathetic actually… we waited an hour for a 20 minute show… but it was good quality time with family and we got to see a pretty lightning show before.
Sunday we were going to go to the pool in the housing development, but it was closed so we planned to head to the lake, until the only toilet in the cabin broke… BUMMER. My grandma and Aunt decided to head home, but the rest of us decided we would tough it out and drive a short distance to the lake’s marinia bathroom. No big deal. So instead of the pool or lake, we decided to take a trip to Bagnell Dam in Ozark City. My mom went there on her Senior Trip in high school.. apparently it was the “it” place before Branson. So we hopped in the car… about 1.5 hours later we arrived. It was a cute little town and we had fun. We got rained on as we were walking back to the car, but whats a little rain huh? It actually made the temps drop. The rest of the evening included cooking out and game playing.
Monday we got all packed up and cleaned up and headed on the road. We were on the highway at about 8:30am (just in case traffic was bad)… Tyler and I decided since we got an early start, that we would make a 10 mile detour to my Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Cecil’s house… it was great to see them, even if only for a few hours… We hadn’t seen them since Christmas! No good. Then after a short visit, we headed the rest of the way home.
During the trip, there were TONS of deer wandering through the neighborhood… here are some pics of the sweet baby deer that obviously weren’t afraid of the people in the neighborhood! So sweet! 🙂

During the trip, something happened to Dash’s good eye (he only has one eye). We’re not entirely sure what happened, he might have poked it on a blade of grass, a rock? a bug? the options are endless. He didn’t seem to be in pain, and he was still playing, so we didn’t try and rush him to an emergency vet. We decided unless it got worse, we were going to try and wait until we got home to take him to our regular vet. Dr. said there was something wrong… he could tell it was inflamed so he recommended us to an eye specialist. We just had the appointment this morning. Thankfully Dash’s eye had been clearing up since “the incident” whatever that may have been. The eye specialist said there is some scarring on his eye- from what? we don’t know… some of the scarring looks older and some looks more new. We have some eye drops to give him until our follow up in 3-weeks that we hope will clear up the scarring and send us on our merry-way. She said its probably like wearing smudgy glasses and that he either has, or will, learn to just see around it… hopefully the scarring goes away but its a better prognosis than Tyler and I had worked ourselves up to… (Don’t worry, we were convinced he was going to be blind by the end of the week, and I even though about adjusting this blog to be about dealing with an injured pet.. Thank goodness it’s not that serious!) Long story short… here is Dash enjoying his vacation! 🙂

Last but not least.. on our way back to the cabin from Bagnell Dam, we stopped at Ha Ha Tonka State Park to see the Castle Ruins. My mom had been to the ruins in college and said she and her friends dreamed up this Monty Python type movie plot around the castle, so she insisted we make the pit-stop… Here are some really cool pictures from our stop at the Castle Ruins… The castle burnt in the 1940s I think… Still very cool…

This was the view from one of the “resting areas” on the path to the castle ruins… looking over the lake.. so pretty! 🙂

This was the water tower for the castle. The caretakers families lived in this tower.

Overall, its was a great trip… it was a little dramatic at times, but I’m glad it turned out fine in the end. It was nice to see the family.
Now, I’m finishing my class for the summer (I’m still working on stuff through Graduation basically, however class scheduled meetings are over until its back-to-school.. for. the. last. time!) I’ve also been engulfed in the Casey Anthony trial. No comment. I’ve been teaching too, and next week its off to the Summer Intensive for 2-weeks! Yay!
I’m trying to plan a trip to KC in July for some Wedding planning, maybe a trip to Dallas, and then maybe a camping/canoeing/visiting Grandma and Grandpa trip all before school starts… Talk. About. Busy! But Summer is the time to have fun and do everything you can’t do when school starts! Haha!
Well, that’s about all for now… Teaching and To-Do List tackling tonight!
Until Next Time,

Weekly Update! :-)

This must be a Wednesday thing… I’m ok with that… at least I’m updating more frequently! 🙂

So here are some highlights from my SUPER exciting week… haha 🙂

*Tyler drinking from his “big man cup,” aka the blender, after making smoothies earlier this week :-)*
*Dash was asleep on the couch, and I caught him mid-yawn. Pretty funny…*

*After leaving the studio Monday night (after teaching), this is what the clouds looked like… on my way home, I was caught in the middle of a hailstorm and had to pull off under an underpass for 5-10 minutes… it came out of nowhere! (Like the hailstorm we had last Tuesday… so bizarre, I told Tyler we haven’t seen this much hail since we’ve been in Oklahoma!)*

*Yesterday, I was looking for Dash, and this is what I found… I thought it was too cute, so I snapped a picture for Tyler… silly doggie!*

*Yesterday I got some new ballet shoes because my other ones essentially had a “blowout”… so… Yay for new ballet shoes! :-)*
*This article came across my Twitter today, so I sent it to Tyler to make sure everyone was ok… he didn’t even know about it and ended up calling me to see where the article was from so they could look it up at work! Crazy!*

So that’s been my crazy, exciting week. Ha! I’ve just been busy teaching/taking class (the studio opened up for Summer classes on Monday! It seemed like such a short break!), and going to my own classes/working on my Thesis!

Oh yeah, Tyler and I found this new show on Netflix, that someone suggested he watch… Dexter. We started watching it last week sometime, and we are now 4 episodes away from finishing season 2! ha. Unfortunately, only seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix, so we’re going to have to find another way to finish out the next 3 seasons! (There have been 6 seasons, but we’ve only been able to find through season 5 on DVD, so we’ll have to keep our eyes open!)

Other than that, this has been just a typical week in our household! I guess that’s better than too much excitement! 🙂

Until Next Time,
~*~Megan~*~

P.S. Good Luck to Haley and the other CODE dancers in Branson at nationals this week! I know you’ll do great! 🙂

Rhinestones and Braces!

What a weird title huh? 🙂 There IS a method to the madness, I promise…

First, I’ve been keeping my self busy the last few days with school, rereading the Hunger Games Series, and RHINESTONING! 🙂

I mentioned previously, my new obsession (or about-to-be-obsesstion, at the time) with Rhinestones. I posted pictures of my planner’s decorations and I’m back with my latest project… my clipboard!

I use my clipboard, practically on a daily basis. I’ve had this particular clipboard since my Sophomore or Junior year of High School, when we used it for a dance competition routine… “Rhythm Class” where we were all students in a school… it was an awesome tacit tap routine! (Meaning there was no music!)

Anyways, I came to love this little clipboard and the sturdiness it offered me, so I began using it everyday for school… So. It only seems natural with my new obsession with rhinestones that I spruce her up a bit! 🙂 So here she is, unveiled, in all her rhinestone-glory! 🙂

The Back.

The Front! 🙂
I sent these pictures to Tyler and he simply replied… “No more rhinestoning!” (Think he’s had enough? haha!)
Also. Haley, my younger sister, is getting her braces off today… probably as we speak! 🙂 Here is her “before” picture, that I “hijacked” off Facebook 🙂
Good Luck, Haley! 🙂
***** EDITED*****
This just in! Here is Haley WITHOUT her braces! 🙂 Look at those pearly whites! 🙂
YAY! 🙂
Well, that’s all the “news” for now! 🙂
Until Next Time,

Memorial Day Weekend Fun!

Ok. So I realize this was two weeks ago, but I still wanted to share this one thing with everyone… I’m sure my mother will love that I’m sharing this with the world, but she’ll get over it… that’s what you get when you REFUSE to get a Facebook (despite the fact your MOTHER-IN-LAW has one, even! Love you Momma!) 😉

So, when Mom and Haley came to visit, I mentioned we made a trip to the Zoo. First off. Tyler and I LOVE the Zoo. It’s always so fun to see the animals and we generally have a pretty good visit with the animals being active instead of hiding in their caves and whatnot.

Well, when Mom and Haley came… we had the BEST luck with the animals. They were all SO active and entertaining! We went around 9am, when the Zoo opens, so it wasn’t too hot yet and they weren’t too tired so they were full of entertaining energy! 🙂

Well, when we got to the Chimpanzees’ exhibit, we had a fun surprise in store. All the chimpanzees were in the shade so they could be seen close up from the “indoor” exhibit. While we stood there watching the animals with a large crowd, one chimp locked eyes with my mother. She began to wave at the chimp and he, in response, started to bob his head up and down at the same speed my mom was waving. After a few seconds of this excitement, he got off his log and RUSHED to the glass window, making all the spectators besides my mom take a few steps back. Well, this guy, came RIGHT UP TO THE WINDOW, and my mom kneeled down and started puckering up to the chimp. You’ll never believe it, but the chimp PUCKERED UP RIGHT BACK! They were practically kissing despite the glass between them. It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Everyone else was hooting and hollering as well. It was so funny!

Luckily, during all the madness I was able to capture this precious gem, to show my father his stiff competition, since he missed out on the trip! So, here’s the funniest picture you’ll ever see.. ok, maybe not EVER, but still… it was a funny adventure…

As for my to-do list from yesterday, because I know you’re so concerned as to whether or not I accomplished it, right? I was able to get a majority of it done! Of course there are still things to be done, but I was able to get a good start on it anyways! So yay for productivity! 🙂
Happy Sunday!
Until Next Time,
~*~Megan~*~

Back Again!

Hello, Hello!

I’m back again… and at 7:15am on a Saturday Morning (I don’t even teach today!) So why am I up this early on a Saturday, you ask? Well a couple of reasons (which won’t make your life any more exciting, I promise.)

Reason #1: Wednesday night I was up until about 1:30am working on stuff for school, so come Thursday night, I was exhausted. Since I don’t have class on Friday, I was able to sleep from about 9pm to 9am. When I did wake up on Thursday morning, I could tell A) I had gotten too much sleep, and B) that I wasn’t going to be able to do anything productive because of sleeping so much, I still felt groggy.

Reason #2: Tyler had to work today and decided he was going to get donuts for the guys… so he offered to get me some too… and we had a coupon for a free iced coffee. So, Tyler headed to Dunkin Donuts this morning and returned with my breakfast.

Reason #3: I made this To-Do list on Thursday night, of things that I could/wanted to get accomplished before heading back to class next week….

So that, my friends, is why I woke up shortly after 6am today! 🙂

Since my last update, I’ve been staying busy with a visit from Mom and Haley, Dad was working and couldn’t make it (boo.), performance time for the studio, and school.

Mom, Haley, Tyler, and I, had a lot of fun on their oh-so-short visit. We spent our time swimming, going to the Zoo to see our new baby elephant!, and catching up. It was so wonderful to see them! It had been since JANUARY, when I was home having doctors appointments and finding my wedding dress, since I’ve seen them! It was a great visit, but of course, way-too-short! We’re trying to figure out a plan for a visit sooner than that… possibly in July for the 4th and I will need to get up to KC in August to get my license renewed and to do wedding planning… We’re almost a year out now! 🙂

Performance for Classical Ballet was last Friday! We were doing Beauty and the Beast! I was in-charge of the little ones (my Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet classes), until the Friday/Saturday before. Our Stage Manager had something come up at the last minute and we weren’t able to find anyone who was available before dress rehearsal to see the show. (The Stage Manager of a show is a VERY important component. He/She is often overlooked in terms of importance. It’s the equivalent of having a symphony orchestra, without a conductor. Just doesn’t work). Well, I have had some Stage Management experience through school – I was the Assistant Stage Manager for a show a couple of years ago, I was the Stage Manager for the Dance Performance Senior Solo Examinations, and I’ve held practically every backstage job with my time at school (remember, I’ve been in school for going on 6 years now!). So, Kate and I decided that I would be the new Stage Manager. Since I had the experience and I was familiar with the show, and what Kate was wanting for the technical aspects, we figured it wouldn’t be anything too traumatizing. I was really excited to do it because I’ve been wanting to get more experience in Stage Managing, and now I was able to get “real-world” experience. I wasn’t able to be present for the “cueing” and “load-in” of the show on Thursday because of school, so Kate was able to find someone to help us… someone who I had had tons of backstage experience with at OCU! We made a great team! 🙂

Jumping to the end of the show… the show was wonderful. It went really well, I was asked for my business card from the crew, so I was very flattered by that! 🙂 (Especially since it was only my 2nd “Stage Manager” position!) We had a couple of “issues” during the show, some that ended up funny to the audience and couldn’t have necessarily been fixed on our side, prevented… yes… fixed mid-happening? Nope. For instance, we had two curtains on the stage to hide a scene change… one of the curtains was see through and it was in front of the non-see-through curtain. Little did we know, that the small space between the two curtains was exactly where the little ones’ spots were. (To bring the little ones on, we had them hold a rope, with a black tape spot where they needed to stand in order to be evenly spaced on the stage. They were to hold the rope, until they were positioned, and then the rope would be removed by the teachers and helpers and the dancers would “magically appear.”) Unfortunately, the little ones entered between the two curtains – fully visible to the audience, rope and all. So our “magical transformation” wasn’t so magical. Oh well, the audience enjoyed it and found it quite adorable… as did we, after getting over the initial shock. 🙂

To add insult to injury… after the dance was completed, we had the curtains come back to hide their “reorganization” for the bows after the song was over. To make sure this happened, we had assigned an older girl (7-9 years old) to help the little creative movement kiddos (3-4 years old). Well, one couple didn’t remember to move back to where they would be behind the curtains, and once again, got stuck between the two curtains (again, visible to the audience). Another chuckle ensued, and when I thought the elder of the two sat down to “wait for someone to tell her how to get off stage” she decided to lead the little one UNDER the other curtain. It was an absolutely darling moment. The things that make recitals precious. Ha.

Other than that… the show was FABULOUS. Rave reviews from parents and friends! 🙂

And lastly, school. This was my LAST WEEK for one of my classes. I had a project due on Wednesday and a Final on Thursday. After only 4 weeks of summer classes, I have finished my “crash course” in Managing a Non-Profit Dance Organization! 🙂 Now. I only have my Thesis Prep. class that goes until July 8th! How crazy is that?! So now, I only have class on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour! So my wonderful 3-day weekends have now become 4-day weekends with a day off in-between classes! This is the life! 🙂

Luckily, our pool was reopened after some “vandalized” occurred last weekend (one of the drain covers came off, and the office said someone “stuff things in the drain.” They drained the pool Monday, refilled in by Wednesday, cleaned in Thursday and reopened it on Friday… really I think it was done to keep me focused on my homework.. otherwise I may not have survived this week!)

Tyler and I have also discovered the workout facility at our new apartment. It has a treadmill, a stair-master, a stationary bicycle, and a multi-purpose weight lifting station. Tyler and I headed over there Thursday night. I did a mile on the bicycle, half a mile on the stair-master, and half a mile on the treadmill, plus some reps on the weight station. It was fun, and I was exhausted. I haven’t really been active since school got out.. I was needing some movement/exercise. I really need a dance class.

Last night, we headed to the pool for a good 45 minutes when Tyler got home. They had just opened it back up around 3pm and NO ONE had headed over there! Thinking the water was going to be FREEZING since they drained it, we cautiously ventured down there… the water was actually WARMER than it had been… so we stayed longer than planned. After that, we headed to academy, got tennis rackets and tennis balls, and a new swimsuit for me. Then we headed to our tennis court and played tennis with Dashy for a while! (He LOVED chasing the tennis ball around the court, partly because it is just a larger version of one of his favorite toys!) Tyler and I had a blast! Looks like we’re going to have a pretty active summer… who knew I would enjoy sports… I was definitely the girl who stood in the back of gym and didn’t really participate. Like. At all. Whoops. 🙂

Another exciting adventure for this summer is my new project/soon-to-be-obsession: Rhinestones! My boss and good friend, Kate, is a Rhinestone Queen! Well, in the preparations for Beauty and the Beast, we were making some last minute props, which included the Menu for the “Be Our Guest” scene. We decided to spruce it up a bit by adding rhinestones to the letters. I had a blast. So, I decided to buy some of my own and I did! 🙂 I’m planning to rhinestone my phone, but I didn’t get enough of the rhinestones that I wanted to use. (Good thing I laid them all out before starting to glue them!) So I’ll need to order a few more/ find a few more, in order to do that. But I also tried out rhinestoning something else to see if Tyler would let me. He said no, but I still thought it was pretty. (I didn’t glue them down, I just laid them out to see if he would let me and snapped this picture so my laptop doesn’t look this sparkly unfortunately.) So here is my “starter kit,” as I’ve called it (I think rhinestone venders should have this available to customers, they’d make big bucks!) and one of my first, and unsuccessful, projects! 🙂

Ok, enough boring you. If you made it this far… props to you! 🙂 I’m off to accomplish my to-do list and have an exciting Saturday! 🙂
Until Next Time,
~*~Megan~*~
P.S. If you made it this far… you deserve a treat… so I’ve got another picture for you! While wondering through Walmart last weekend, we saw this and I’m pretty sure I just about died laughing. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did…
🙂 Happy Saturday!
