Wedding Weekend #2: Fantastic Family :)

Wedding Weekend #2 was absolutely WONDERFUL! I did not want to come back. I was able to spend some time with my family and at one of my favorite places of ALL time… My grandma’s house! 🙂

The best way to recap the weekend is through pictures… so…. Here you go… 🙂
Step 1: We rented a car for this trip because neither Tyler’s truck or my car would have made very good/safe/reliable traveling vehicles…. we got a Hyundai Accent… It was super cute and I liked it, Tyler thought it was too small… none-the-less here is our mode of transportation for the weekend 🙂
We began the trip at 8:30pm on Friday night (after we got all packed up and ready to go). We made it to my Grandma’s house at about 1:30am… we were tired!
Saturday was the wedding so we woke up early had our breakfast, got ready and headed to Springfield, MO which is about 1 hour away from Grandmas…. Once we arrived in Springfield we began to see these…..
… Signs for the wedding! Interesting Fact: The bride and grooms last names BEFORE the wedding were both Elliott! 🙂 How funny 🙂 And they aren’t related! 😉
We were SUPER early to the wedding chapel because we were told it was going to be standing room only! Since we were so early, I snapped a few photos! 🙂 Here is Haley in the chapel… doesn’t she look happy? 😉
I thought the decorations on the pews were so pretty so I took a picture of them once we were seated 🙂
Here is a picture of the Altar with all the candles lit… so pretty 🙂
After the wedding, everyone congratulated the couple and their families outside the Chapel. For some reason, we decided to hang out after we had all gone through the line to mingle with family…. Here is a picture I snapped of the procession out of the church 🙂
While we were waiting to head to the reception, Haley and I got a little bored. So… I took this picture of her with the bed and breakfast scarecrow…. 🙂
And I tried to take a picture of Mom, but she didn’t like that idea… 🙂
Here Tyler and I are, after the wedding Ceremony…. or as my grandma says… “the day Tyler decided to get married.” 🙂 (Long story short, my grandma was telling Tyler he better hurry up and propose or I might find myself a cowboy in Oklahoma 😉 )… Thanks Grandma 🙂
Here is an attempt of a picture with Haley. I think it turned out very cute! I sure do love my little sister 🙂
Here is attempt number 2…. 🙂
The Reception was just as beautiful as the wedding… It was at another bed and breakfast and was absolutely stunning. I didn’t take too many pictures because we were too busy eating and chatting, HOWEVER, we did stumble across a monkey in a cage, tucked into the woods… we have NO idea why it was there…. but I snapped a picture of it anyways…. He had his tongue sticking out the whole time we were there… So funny! 🙂
After the wedding and reception we headed back to my Grandma’s house. My Grandma’s “neighbor” found some kittens and is keeping them in his garage/barn… we had to go see them and bring them food….
They were just TOO precious. Haley really wanted to take one home… I’m surprised we were able to make her put this one down! They sure were cute and SO tiny!!!
All in all, it was a WONDERFUL trip. I really did not want to come back to OKC after. I wish we could have stayed longer. The weather was beautiful. Getting to see and spend time with my family in one of my favorite places, was perfection. I hope we get to go back soon! However, we were all so TIRED after the weekend (especially since this was our second road trip in a row). I snapped this picture of Dash on the way to OKC. He didn’t ride well on the way to Grandma’s because he didn’t have a seat of his own and it was a new place. By the time Sunday rolled around, he was EXHAUSTED and slept the WHOLE way home! 🙂
On another note, last week I went to a Indoor Pyrotechnic Workshop sponsored by our Student Government Association and Students of Arts Management (SAM- the organization I am involved with). Here is a really bad picture of one of the fireworks we got to see….. Pretty neat workshop though 🙂
And LAST but NOT LEAST, my mom got me some shelves for my dance locker. I took this picture for her to see the necessity of my new shelves and how life changing they were… so here is a picture of my “newly renovated” dance locker! 🙂

Well, that’s about it for now. Off to another busy week. It will be very nice to stay at home for one weekend, although I am having serious withdraws from my family and the country…. I hope to go back soon and to see them all soon….

Until Next Time,

Happy 4 Years!!!! :)

*Megan and Tyler @ Homecoming ’05… Four Years Ago Today! :)*

Today is Tyler and I’s 4 Year Anniversary!!!

I can’t believe we’ve been together for 4 years! That is so weird to me! In the last 4 years, we’ve both changed so much, but I think our relationship is so much stronger than it was! I honestly have no idea what I would do without Tyler in my life… We are opposites in MANY ways, but it really balances us out.

We haven’t seen a whole lot of each other lately because when I get home he’s ready for bed, and when he gets up for work, I am still asleep…. 😦 None-the-less… I love him with all my heart and can still say that we are very happy together! We probably won’t do any celebrating because I have to be at school until 9pm tonight, but that’s ok because that is kind of our personalities… very low key. 🙂

So… Happy Anniversary to Us!!! 🙂

Until Next Time,

Wedding Weekend #1

Well we are back from the quickiest trip we have ever taken (I think) home to KC… and we survived!!! 🙂
Saturday morning I observed classes at the Community Dance Center for school from 9am-12pm. Then I came home, and we loaded up and headed to KC. We got on the road around 1:30pm and arrived in KC around 7:30pm *Phew*… I was able to spend some time with my sister (the Birthday girl!) and dad! It was nice to see them… my mommy was out of town on a business trip so I didn’t get to see her… 😦
Then Sunday we got up did our laundry, went out to eat with my dad and sister, then headed to the wedding… The wedding was at the Weston Red Barn Farm… its a really cute little place where elementary schools take field trips to pick pumpkins, go on hayrides, and go through corn mazes… its a cute little place.. and the perfect place for a picnic wedding…. Below are some pics….

* The Wedding Cakes (Cupcakes and Cake Made by Debbie Holmes aka Tyler’s Mom) *
*The Happy Couple! 🙂 *

*Tyler and I at the wedding 🙂 (Question of the day: “Are you guys next?”)*

Then it was time to head home to OKC. We got on the road around 5:30pm and made it to OKC right at 11:30pm. Needless to say, Tyler and I were very exhausted today, and probably will be the rest of the week… Especially since we are going to another wedding this weekend… however, this trip will be a little longer so that will be nice…. Just wanted to stop by and update on the past weekend.. no news…

Until Next Time,

Should Be Doing Homework…

Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday (almost Thursday!) Just thought I’d stop by and update you on my life…

Last weekend:

Saturday morning I taught my new Creative Movement class and my Pre-Ballet Class… I had so much fun!!! It’s soooo exciting to be back teaching! 🙂 I can’t imagine having done anything else, or better for that matter, on my Saturday morning! The rest of the day was spent running around and getting things done!

Sunday I did some homework and laundry. Then it was off to school for my management assignment. It was fun. I got to see one of the kiddos from the summer intensive so that was neat! Needless to say, I did not finish my “To-Do” list entirely this weekend… its still a work in progress… Should have known! 🙂

Monday I had Principles of Advertising at 11am, then Ballet at 1:30pm, then I headed to Moore, Oklahoma to teach! (Man, do I love it!!!!) I have a Creative Dance class with 2-3 year olds (Yes…. 2-3 year olds.. YIKES!), then the company ballet class (the competition kids). Then it was back to school for my FIRST COMMITTEE MEETING with my Banquet committee!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS YEAR!!! 🙂 THEN… as if this wasn’t already a long enough day…. I had rehearsal for Choreography Show from 8:30-9:30pm… I was EXHAUSTED when I got home….

Tuesday I had Tap at 9am, then Choreography at 1:30pm where we performed our assignments (the LONGEST assignment EVER!- but it was fun!), then I had a break until 5 when I was an assistant in the CDC… those kiddos! This is the third day in a row of teaching!!! 🙂 LOVE IT!!!! Then it was off to Moore again to teach another company ballet class!!! I love my life!!! 🙂

Today, we had our first Principles of Advertising Test… it was alright…. nothing TOO bad… Then Ballet at 1:30pm, then…you guessed it…. Teaching in the CDC… First up was teen tap… those girls are so amazing and such quick learners!!! They are really challenging me as a new teacher!!! Then it was the adult ballet class! Now I’m home for the evening (exhausted) and so excited about teaching so much!!!!

Tonight was supposed to be our “Free Movie Night” at the Winchester Drive in, but it was raining so they are going to reschedule it… I hope its still at the drive in though!!! 🙂

The rest of the week is more class work and less teaching…. which is fine because as much as I LOVE teaching… I need a little break!

Random Things:

I have decided to at least APPLY for my masters at OCU… what will it hurt? So today I received my 1st Recommendation letter from my academic advisor!!!! 🙂 Yay!!! Friday Night I am meeting with Julie who graduated with her undergrad last May, and is now in the fast track MFA program…. I’m going to get her perspective on the program and getting her Masters done now!

Saturday is OFF TO KC for the first of two weddings!!! 🙂 So excited!!!! Although, my momma will be on a business trip so I won’t get to see her, my baby sisters Birthday is on SATURDAY!!! 🙂 HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY HALEY!!! 🙂

Also, on a more somber note… my Aunt Kathy had emergency open heart surgery Monday night…. The doctor said if she hadn’t have been in the situation she was in (at the doctors to the hospital) she would not have survived (even through paperwork in the ER)… She had an aneurysm in her heart a while back, that unfortunately had some complications resulting in a second surgery (before this emergency one)… The last few years have been very trying on her health and our family…. This is her 3rd open heart surgery in the last 8-10 years… involving reconstruction each time…. She is recovering as well as can be expected (sleeping alot!) and the doctor says she has LONG road ahead of her… so she (and my family who are vigilantly by her side) are in my thoughts and prayers through her recovery….

Just goes to show, you can not take ANYTHING for granted…

Until Next Time,

Exhaustion Sets In

Hey! Well, I mentioned at the end of my last post that I was going to rest up for the week, well apparently I should have done more of that! Boy, am I exhausted!!!!

Tuesday I had class as usual, and then was an assistant for a class in the Community Dance Center at OCU (where I’m teaching/assisting for school). The kiddos are so sweet! After that we had our Students of Arts Management Kick-off! I think it went really well! There was a great turn out and there were cookies and root beer floats! 🙂

Wednesday it was my turn to teach. I am teaching a Teen Tap class and an Adult Ballet class in the CDC (Community Dance Center). I am very impressed with the talents of the students I have! I am excited to teach them again this week! Wednesday night was our first Choreography Show Look-See, where the faculty watches one minute of each piece to see if the choreographer is on the right track… It’s so fun to see all the pieces… I think its going to be a very great show!

Thursday was a “ho-hum” kind of day. I had class like usual but I just wasn’t myself… it was one of “those” days…

Today is Debbie’s Birthday (Tyler’s mommy) so Happy Birthday Debbie!!! 🙂 Tonight I came home from class and made myself a nice long to-do list for the weekend…. Since I’m losing half a day to a management assignment at school, I’m a little worried I won’t get it all done…. Here it is in case you want to see how busy I’m going to be this weekend!

_ Teaching 2 classes tomorrow morning
_ Planning 5 classes for next week (not including my Saturday classes) YIKES!
_ Putting together packets for my Banquet Committee Chairs (we are meeting MONDAY!)
_ Choreography Class: Reflection, Movement Assignment, Reading Assignment
_ Studying for a Principles of Advertising Test (We don’t have the study guide so this might be a Monday/Tuesday night thing)
_ Planning to pack for KC next weekend
_ Reserve a car for our trip to Springfield the following weekend!

Phew! It’s going to be a busy weekend, especially considering this doesn’t include laundry, dishes, taking out the trash, my management job on Sunday…. etc…. I will be happy to check everything off my list!

Until Next Time,

P.S. I did end up getting another dress for the second wedding… here is a picture (I think I like this one better)…
And I snapped this picture of Dash from my computer the other day…. look how long his nose is! 🙂 My baby!

Three Day Weekend

Happy Labor Day (And September- I almost forgot!)! This weekend has been fun and full of excitement.

Friday I had a meeting with the SAM sponsor to meet about the Banquet progress. Now it’s time to start looking for locations! That will be fun! After that my day consisted of Ballet, Choreography and then Tap Ped II (class from 1:30pm-6pm straight through)! Friday night I went and babysat for a new family (last minute). There were two kids: a 4 year old boy and a 18month old girl (who I didn’t get to meet because she was already asleep when I got there!). It was a short night but man was it filled with excitement. Turns out the dad is a lead guitarist for a band that originated right here in OKC! (They never mentioned it to me, but there were 3 Grammy awards on the entertainment center, a plaque from when the album went gold, and the calendar had all the tour dates on it!) It was super exciting but out of respect for them I will not mention who it was! Just VERY exciting! Plus the little boy was just a sweetheart! Hopefully, I’ll get to go back and meet the mysterious little girl! 🙂

Saturday I went to lunch with Katy, Andi, Anna and Jenna. It was interesting… lunch was great but Jenna wasn’t feeling very good. After that Katy and I went to SAMs Club and now I am an official member! Then we went to JCPenny to look at dresses for my upcoming weddings! I found two that I like….One for the picnic wedding, and one for a more formal wedding. I really like the one for the picnic wedding but I’m still a little unsure about the one for the formal wedding.. I might exchange it.. it might be too fancy…. Then I came home and Tyler and I watched college football 🙂

* This is the dress I got for the Picnic Wedding (Tamara and Dacoda’s).

* This is the dress I got for the more formal wedding (Travis and Holly’s)… Is it appropriate or too much?

Sunday I got up and went to breakfast with Katy, Jenna, Anna, Mary and myself. Then Tyler and I went to SAMs club and did some grocery shopping- we’re not quite sold on doing our grocery shopping there, maybe just for our juices and things we buy “bulk” of, but when you’re shopping only for two, we found we wouldn’t need as much as we were getting- and some things were a little more expensive than walmart or our grocery store. Then we went to the last race of the season at the speedway. It was fun- no big wrecks or anything but it was good to hang out with some of our friends!

Today will consist of homework, a SAM meeting (not to be confused with SAMs club), maybe going to get Tyler a new dress shirt, tie and slacks for our weddings this month, and resting up for school this week!

Until Next Time,

P.S. We start teaching tomorrow! 🙂

Wow! It’s only been two days since my last update but I feel like its been almost weeks! Simply because SO much has been happening since Tuesday!!!
Yesterday I meet up with Cassie in our on-campus cafe (“Alvin’s”) to discuss our lesson plans for our Community Dance Center class that we will be team teaching starting NEXT week! I am just SO excited to start teaching again! I haven’t taught since JUNE! That is WAY too long!
Then it was off to my Advertising class, which I am really enjoying… it’s very interesting! Then I had my first day of DANCING in Ballet this semester! It was wonderful to finally be in class and dancing and not worrying about “what level are they going to put me in!” I have a really great class… too bad I only get to take Ballet every other day…. I feel kind of lost when I come back because I feel like I missed something on the other days 😦 It’ll just take some getting used to!
Then in Tap Ped we had to turn in our first Lesson Plans and we practiced teaching from them. I am just SO excited! 🙂
After that I went home for a little bit and got reorganized from the day (things just happen so quickly I have to take 15-30 minutes to get back in control)… then it was off to our first official SAM (Student’s of Arts Management) Executive Committee meeting (aka SAM Exec)…. It was a very productive meeting… as for Banquet I can say… 1) My committee heads are all in place! YAY and 2) We HAVE A THEME!!!! YAY!!! (But it’s a SECRET until a later day!)! All I can say is I am SUPER excited!!!
Then this morning I had Tap where we read the course description! Our levels were posted, I am in Level 5 Class Green!!! Its the Middle class in Tap B! One of these days I’ll explain the color/number system for leveling- it’s very confusing! 🙂 Now I am at home until 2pm when I head off for Choreography 🙂
For Choreography we had to choreography (2) 15-30 second pieces of movement, without music, to a chosen word and the movement has to depict the word (then we play charades with it and the class has to try and guess)- its really fun! 🙂
Then Tap Ped & Ballet Ped, then a dinner date with a girlfriend, then rehearsal for Choreography Show! *Phew again!*
It sounds like a lot, and it is 🙂 My brain is going 100mph non-stop! It seems as though the rest of September, if not the rest of the semester, will be this way (and so far, its not a bad thing!)…
This weekend is going to be great! Not only is it a three day weekend, its also filled with friends and SHOPPING and getting things done! 🙂 Jenna, my friend who transferred back home to Iowa after last semester, is coming to visit this weekend so we are all planning to get together AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE to see her! Hopefully there will be TONS of pictures to share! 🙂

Jenna from Spring Show 2009 🙂

Basically I’m just really glad I don’t have a lot of things to get done, its more I have a lot of places to be 🙂 Which is nice, I just have to show up really 🙂 Well that’s all the goodies I’ll give you for now….

Until Next Time,

P.S. Here is a clue for the banquet theme 🙂

P.P.S. Apparently I am NOT capable of doing a short post… sorry 😦
